Pastor Jim has been pleased to serve as the pastor of the Fairfield First Baptist Church since July 1995. Pastor Jim’s ministry has a strong focus on preaching and teaching the truth of the Bible. He encourages personal discipleship and spiritual growth with the mutual support of others within the community of faith. With a servant’s heart, his commitments are first to Christ, then to the Body of Christ and thirdly to the world for Christ.
He attended the University of Redlands in Redlands, California, graduating in 1972
with a BA in Mathematics. After two years ministering on college campuses with Inter-
Pastor Wotherspoon was ordained a minister of the American Baptist Churches USA in August 1979 while at his first church in Chehalis, Washington. Before coming to Fairfield Pastor Jim also served churches in Portland, Oregon and Columbus, Nebraska.
Pastor Jim is actively involved the community. He is president of the Fairfield Ministerial Association and serves as a volunteer hospital chaplain.
Pastor Jim is married to Betsie, who teaches at the Fairfield High School. They have four adult children. He enjoys playing his euphonium at church and in local bands.
